Employee Spotlight - Sarah Trummel

Sarah Trummel is the Acquisitions/Serials Assistant in the library. All those books, supplements, and reference materials are materials that she orders and receives for the library. She spends her time in Technical Services, so while you won't see her very much, she is happy to be back in the ordering and processing area to make sure everyone has what they need for classes. Sarah has two teenage girls. Her oldest attends Lewis and Clark High and is a talented budding artist. Her artwork has graced the entrance wall of Chastek Library in the past. Her youngest goes to Sacajawea Middle School and is a budding goofball. She also has two cats that keep all of them very busy. Alongside her boyfriend, Mike, she loves to sample local restaurants and attend concerts at The Bartlett. They enjoy going to concerts in Seattle and Portland whenever they get a chance to get away. Join the Center for Civil and Human Rights and Chastek Library for a screening King in the Wilderness, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. , on January 21 from 5:30pm - 7:30pm in the Barbieri Courtroom.  Pizza will be provided for those in attendance. 

BLACK VOICES | Documentary Film Series for Black History Month

Come join Chastek Library for the screenings of three amazing documentary films during Black History Month. Listen to Black Voices discuss equality, identity, passion, culture, sexuality, and race in three screening sessions of these critically acclaimed films: Tongues Untied on February 7th, Ida B. Wells: A Passion for Justice on February 14th, and Hoop Dreams on February 28th. All films begin at 3pm.    These are closed screenings for Gonzaga community members only.

Employee Spotlight - Sharalyn Williams

Sharalyn Williams is the Public Services Librarian and Circulation Supervisor at Chastek Library. Hired in December 2017, her main focus is to help students take a break and press pause on their studies through library-sponsored self-care, answer reference and research questions, teach in-class workshops on library resources, as well as manage the 20+ student employees working the circulation desk. She has created the semester-held Movie Night events, co-created the Chastek Library Trivia Night, and began scheduling the therapy dogs for semester visits.   Raised in a military family until she was 18 years old, Sharalyn lived across the country in several states, as well as in Adana, Turkey. She first attended Centralia College where she received her A.A. degree, followed that up with Washington State University for her B.A. in English, and then graduated Beta Phi Mu from Emporia State University with her M.L.S. in 2015. Employee Spotlight - Carolyn Hood

Carolyn Hood is our interlibrary loan manager who borrows books and retrieves articles from around the world for our faculty, students, and staff. She also loans books and sends article requests to other institutions and law firms. Throughout the academic year, she assists with Law Review and GJIL in locating their books and articles for their cite-and-source assignments. When loose-leaf materials need to be updated and pocket parts need to be pulled, you will find her in the stacks of the library doing just that. In 2019, she celebrated twenty-five years at Chastek Library. Carolyn has a passion for education. She holds a B.S. in Art Education and specialized in K-12 drawing and painting. She taught middle school art, adult education art, and college level art classes. After work, you will find Carolyn engaged in a variety of workout classes. She enjoys all types of music and plans to continue learning to play the violin. With varied interests using mixed media within the field of a...
