New DVD Titles Available for Checkout

 Chastek Library and Foley Library have a vast array of popular and classified films available for checkout. Look on the library catalog for any film that you may be interested in. You can place a request for any items from Foley and have them sent down for pickup at the law library. To do so, just sign in under your student, faculty, or staff account, click the Request option on the item page, and complete the form. Make sure to choose Chastek Library as your "Pickup Location" option if you want it sent to you in the law school. 

Requests for Chastek Library materials and/or to pickup materials at Chastek Library will not be completed until after January 19, 2021.

Blackfish tells the story of Tilikum, a notoriously aggressive orca that killed three people while in captivity. Director Gabriela Cowperthwaite uses shocking footage and emotional interviews to present a convincing case against keeping these wild animals for human entertainment.

The Brandon Teena Story documents the tragic tale of a transgender man from rural Nebraska who was murdered after two locals discovered his female origins, director Susan Muska delves into the story of Brandon Teena -- born Teena Brandon -- through a number of revealing sources. News footage and documents from the time of the murder lay out the facts of the case, while Muska conducts interviews with those closest to Teena, including several ex-girlfriends, to piece together a life and a crime.

Death on a Factory Farm: Animal Rights on Trial is a 2009 television documentary film concerning the animal rights abuses at the Wiles hog farm, and the subsequent investigation and trial.

Paris is Burning offers an intimate portrait of rival fashion houses, from fierce contests for trophies to house mothers offering sustenance in a world rampant with homophobia, transphobia, racism, AIDS, and poverty.

The Paw Project is a 2013 documentary film that focuses on the declawing of both exotic and domesticated cats in the United States. The film follows the crusade of veterinarian Dr. Jennifer Conrad, who campaigns to have declawing bans enacted in a number of cities.

The Shores of Silence is a landmark film that brought about major legislative changes to protect whale sharks worldwide. This documentary depicts the needless killing and harvesting of whales sharks by poor Indian communities. In response to the film, the Indian government introduced legislature to ban fishing of whale sharks, declaring them endangered species and protecting them under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972.
